The Good Shepherd Academy, dedicated to the academic and moral formation of every student, will partner with parents in educating the spiritual and intellectual needs of the child. To accomplish this endeavor, the Good Shepherd Academy will educate students within the nurturing framework of a Catholic philosophy of education. Through a Catholic classical education, children will be able to reason effectively and express their thoughts coherently and convincingly. Students will encounter the greatest thinkers of Western Civilization and wisdom found in great literature, becoming wise themselves in the process. Through Catholic classical education, students naturally will be impelled to seek Truth, Beauty, and Goodness, as they grow in faith, reason, virtue, and wisdom. Students will come to know, love, and serve God.
Fr. Louis Marx was the saintly pastor of San Secondo d’Asti Catholic Church in Guasti for more than 20 years. He taught consistently to Know, Love and Serve God by centering one’s life on Jesus especially in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and reverence of Holy Mass. He implored us to live a sacramental life with frequent confession to receive Jesus worthily in the Holy Eucharist, to maintain a true devotion to the Blessed Mother and to defend and protect the Holy Catholic Church. Fr. Marx strongly desired that children be educated and formed in the truth of the Catholic faith to raise up saints as the next generation for the Catholic Church. His teachings inspired the founding of The Good Shepherd Academy and we honor his memory as our patron.
The Good Shepherd Academy will provide regular reception of the sacraments and provide religious instruction using The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd religion program. Through this sacramental Catholic classical education, students will grow organically in faith and virtue, keeping a love and reverence for the Blessed Sacrament as their foundation.
The hope of The Good Shepherd Academy is to lead souls to God in all their pursuits; to live out the Gospel in a life lived for Christ and His church; to become formidable leaders in their church, community, and society; to be faithful Catholics, and to live their vocation in a manner worthy of sainthood.
