Mission Statement
The Good Shepherd Academy is an independent, coeducational K-12 classical academy in the Catholic tradition. Founded by parents as primary educators, they seek to lead students to Know, Love, and Serve God through a rigorous classical curriculum in obedience to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. With reverent attendance at daily Mass, and Eucharistic adoration, students seek truth, beauty, and goodness that emphasizes virtue, wisdom, and discipline in learning.
Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRS)
To Know: Students will be scholars who:
- Know the content of the Catholic faith and be able to defend it.
- Receive religious instruction using The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the Baltimore Catechism, Seton Press, and the Faith and Life Series of Ignatius Press. TGSA Students will attend Daily Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
- Students will retain acquired knowledge through the daily exercise of memorization.
- Taught to think critically, solve problems independently, and express arguments logically.
- Read, write, and speak with confidence and competence.
- Seek wisdom and understanding through examination and pondering of thoughts and lessons presented.
To Love: Students will be faithful Catholics who:
- Will have reverence for the Holy Mass to fortify their faith in Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
- Glorify God in appearance, manners, and speech.
- Are familiar with the lives, wisdom, and virtues of the saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary; inspired to comport their lives for the glory of God.
- Will grow organically in faith and virtue, keeping a love and reverence for the sacred.
- Develop an awareness and act in compassion for those in need.
To Serve: Students will be citizen leaders who:
- Treat others with Charity, Justice, and Respect.
- Work with honesty, excellence, and perseverance in all pursuits.
- Demonstrate leadership in various settings: school, community, and parish involvement.
- Will seek opportunities to live a life of service for the good of others for the glory of God.
